![]() ![]() ![]() I would pick up another book by this author in a heartbeat. The plot was slightly odd and I wasn’t sure if I believed how Andrew escaped from prison in the first place, but saying that, the writing was excellent and gripping and it flowed well as a story. I think perhaps this story wasn’t really for me. I’d say the thing this book needs is a trigger warning ASAP. This book is full of intense descriptions of murder and mutilation. Although classed as a horror, I wasn’t ‘scared’ of this book, but I was grossed out at all the gore. The only thing I’d say about this book is that it’s incredibly graphic in both murder and sex. ![]() I was also intrigued at the ending of this novel, it definitely cemented this book into the horror genre. The writing was fantastic and I was hooked till the very last page. ![]() There were more character POV’s in the 3rd person but Andrew steals the show. Having the only 1st person POV being the actual serial killer was really intense. This was an interesting read in more ways than one. This book also deals with AIDS, illegal radio, drug use, and abusive relationships. I’d never read a book by this author before but oh boy, this was a shocker! A serial killer, Andrew Compton, manages to escape prison in the UK to begin searching for new victims in New Orleans, specifically within the gay scene. “Did you think you were done with nightmares, now you’ve become one?” Today I’ll be reviewing Exquisite Corpse by Poppy Z. ![]()
